The Na’atik library is the beating heart of the school community, acting as an intercultural learning hub. We believe that a fun interactive library space is key to promoting literacy and a love of reading for our local students.
This holiday season we need to raise $7,500 USD to ensure the next generation of budding readers have access to diverse resources that inspire creativity, critical thinking and global citizenship. Together, we can create a vibrant space where learning comes alive for students of all ages.
What does the Na’atik Library Offer:
Free book lending
A wide selction of English language fiction
A small selection of Spanish language books
A small selection of books in Maya
Two basic student computers
A small reading area
A selection of language related board games
A schedule of regular extracurricular activities
What We need your help to offer:
A wider selection of books suited for older students who are beginning to learn English
Picture books suitable for young learners
A wider selection of Spanish language fiction to inspire students to love reading
Science and Math books to help students with their education beyond languages
Three Modern computers and educational software to combat the lack of internet access some students face
A selection of musical instruments including local made traditional Maya wooden instruments for use in extracurricular activities
More comfortable furniture such as reading chairs, tables and lights
A selection of language related puzzles and games
Training and development for our library staff
